FIGHTING TEMPTATIONS

He dipped his hand into the pocket of his worn out corduroy trousers and brought out a single key. He unlocked the door and entered.

It was a sparsely furnished one room apartment. It contained all he had in the whole world which he is very grateful for - little though it is.

A desk and a chair placed at the left corner of the room. A bible, a devotional guide, his hymn book and some notebooks were neatly arranged on the desk.

He sat on his bed, removed his shoes and arranged them at a corner under his bed. He tried to get some sleep but kept turning.

Apart from the hunger pangs chewing at his insides like hungry lions, the thought of the money he had left locked up in his office desk refused to let him rest.
Money he needed but dare not use.

Chief Gbade had brought him the 300,000 naira wrapped in a polyethene bag.
Yes, he had counted it. Had thought of many things the money could do for him.

He had left it in the office however, afraid of bringing it home. Afraid of how handy the money would be when the landlord comes demanding for rent.

He got up from the bed and picked a file on the table. All he had to do is change some names, places and event.

He dropped the file hastily as if it burned his hand and raked his hand through his hair.

"How can I look the other way? How can I watch an innocent man suffer for a crime he didn't commit?" He asked himself.

'God please help me to do the right thing and insist on it."

The decision was made. He would return the money and do the right.

He yawned, laid on his bed and promptly slept off. He dreamt of all he wanted, needed even but lacked.

Especially of a delicious meal prepared by a good looking wife surrounded by well behaved children in a beautiful well furnished house.

Sometimes all you need to resist temptation is a word of prayer-spoken, muttered or thought.

Why not ask now? Help is just a breath away.
