SOME REMEDIES THAT DO NOT WORK DURING COLD WEATHER AND WHAT WORKS

"REMEDIES" THAT ACTUALLY MAKE THINGS WORSE FOR YOU DURING DRY SEASON

1. Licking your lips every time.
The dryness and low humidity of the dry season make you feel like you constantly have to moisturise your body.

The lips are a part of the body that are worst hit by the low humidity due to their being more exposed to the harsh weather.

You, therefore, find yourself tempted to lick your lips several times in the attempt of moisturising them. Don't! It 's a trap😀

Your constant licking would make the dehydration worse and even make the area around your lips scaly, red and painful in worse scenarios.

Do this instead, dip a washcloth in warm water, dab your lips with it and then apply lip balm, shea butter, chapsticks to seal in the moisture.

2. Bathing with very hot water because of cold

This is another mistake most people make during extremely cold weather. In an attempt to escape from the numbing cold, people decide to bath with hot water in order to get some warmth.

This, however, is a mistake. You might indeed get some warmth when you do this, but the repercussion is that you dry out your skin. Hot water strips your skin of its natural oils. This is responsible for the dry and dull look of most people's skin during cold weather.

3. Coating your skin/lips with petroleum jelly/vaseline.

Most people resort to the use of petroleum jelly based products like vaseline during cold weather conditions to make their skin shiny rather than dry and dull.

The problem with this is that petroleum jelly/vaseline is not a good moisturiser. It acts more like a sealant than a moisturizer.

This implies that while it works fine to keep moisture locked in, it locks moisture out. This is rather undesirable for your body during cold and dry seasons.

Instead, find good moisturizers especially the ones that contain hyaluronic acid. This is an ingredient to look for in moisturisers.
