Do I Really Need God To Succeed In Life?

Image
I once stumbled on an online discourse on success and I thought to share my thoughts here. Everyone wants to succeed in life, for Christians however, the temptation is there, either to leave everything to God or to try to take things into our own hands. When it comes to the subject of achieving success, there are usually two schools of thought. 1: Believe in yourself, the power to succeed lies in you. 2: Trust in God, only Him can give you success. WHICH IS RIGHT? Here's my submission on the matter. It depends on the context. Both could be right or wrong. There is a sense in which you must believe in yourself and step out in the strength of that belief. In doing this, you put away all doubt and defeat mentality and believe you can achieve success. Conversely, there is a place of trusting in God for everything. Knowing that without Him you can do nothing, and achieve nothing of true worth. Someone has rightly said that you must work as if you will not pray and then pray as if you wi

THE LIVING DEAD 1

The 7th of May 2006 was a cold day with really gloomy weather in the city of Hopkinsville. It has been drizzling since daybreak and it is yet to stop. It’s typical of a day when most people would prefer to stay indoors except they have a serious and unavoidable engagement. Most people would be indoors but not Mr Resilien. Mr Resilien had been standing at the same spot on Rest avenue since about 30 minutes ago. With a warm smile and an affectionate “ How is your day going?”, he hands out leaflets to passers-by. The leaflets are actually tracts containing the gospel message of divine love and redemption. Although most people did not bother to grant him the slightest glance or even expend effort to stretch forth their hands to collect the tracts, Mr Resilien seems to be unperturbed. He genuinely cares for these people and he knew many of them to lack the comfort of the divine love in their hearts. After about two hours of handing out tracts and sometimes being ignored. He retired for the

WHY IS IT WRONG TO MARRY AN UNBELIEVER AS A BELIEVER?

God, through the Holy Scripture, gave us a clear command to not be unequally yoked in marriage, but you see, the carnal mind is in enmity against God. People who are not walking in the Spirit, who just want to have their own way sometimes many choose to wrest the scripture, which is of course to their own destruction, to justify their inordinate affection when it comes to marriage.  What Exactly Does It Mean To Be Unequally Yoked In Marriage? A yoke was used in the Bible era to join two animals together to plough farmland. It is always wise to use animals of similar temperament, strength and speed to make the process easy and smooth. Imagine joining animals of differing tempers together. No single work will get done! Animal A wants to rest while B is rearing to go! Imagine having the animals kicking and biting at each other, will anything get done? God cares about our well-being, that is why He gave the command that you as His child should not join yourself to an unbeliever.  Now, let&
