Do I Really Need God To Succeed In Life?

I once stumbled on an online discourse on success and I thought to share my thoughts here.

Everyone wants to succeed in life, for Christians however, the temptation is there, either to leave everything to God or to try to take things into our own hands.

When it comes to the subject of achieving success, there are usually two schools of thought.

1: Believe in yourself, the power to succeed lies in you.

2: Trust in God, only Him can give you success.

WHICH IS RIGHT?

Here's my submission on the matter.

It depends on the context. Both could be right or wrong.

There is a sense in which you must believe in yourself and step out in the strength of that belief. In doing this, you put away all doubt and defeat mentality and believe you can achieve success.

Conversely, there is a place of trusting in God for everything. Knowing that without Him you can do nothing, and achieve nothing of true worth.

Someone has rightly said that you must work as if you will not pray and then pray as if you will not work. In this principle lies the balance of work and faith.

Actually, the veracity of this balanced assertion depends on the 'who' and 'what' is involved. I mean the person that wants to achieve success and the kind of success that person wants to achieve.

Now, that I have said this, let me shock you by telling you that there is a sense in which you do not need God to succeed. Yes, you read that right.

Depending on the kind of success you want, you may not need God and I don't mean shady, unlawful success. The truth is anybody can work hard and achieve honest and lawful success without God.

If you study well, you can pass excellently un your academic pursuit without God.

If you apply the right principles, you can become an honest, lawful and successful business tycoon without God.

If you follow the correct influence and leadership principles, you can build a thriving church and ministry without God.

In fact, God Himself said there is nothing man sets His mind on that he cannot achieve.

You can be successful without God, but you cannot be fulfilled without Him. You can never be fulfilled without God!

You may be successful and feel fulfilled without God; you cannot be fulfilled without Him.

There is a sense of fulfilment in setting some goals for yourself and hitting them; but true fulfilment, which comes from fulfilling the purpose for which you were created and born can never be achieved without God.

To be truly fulfilled,

*You must approach God on His own terms.

* You must get acquainted with Him on His own terms.

* You must achieve in His own terms.

Living for God, in His own terms- this is true fulfilment.

What do you think?

Believing in yourself, trusting in God or balancing both?

I wish you a fulfilled life!
